Book of the Month is a monthly subscription book service that is very popular among the book community. Trust me, once you try it, you’ll be hooked.

Each month, a panel of judges will select five books for you to choose from. The Book of the Month selections cover a variety of genres and are always a special hardcover edition. The selected books are often unpublished, so you will be one of the first to read them.

December 2021 Book Of The Month Selection Time!

At the beginning of the month, you choose one book to add to your box, and shortly after that, a little blue box arrives at your door. If you don’t like any of the selected books, you simply skip that month and your credits will roll over to the next month. Or after the third box, you can choose from five favorite books for your monthly selection instead.

On the other hand, if you want more than one book, after choosing the first book, you can add up to two more books at a discounted price. These plugins can be from the current month’s selection, they can be favorites from previous months, or they can be new releases specially included in the plugin catalog.

Book of the Month has two different pricing plans. With the monthly plan, you get one credit per month for $15. If you’re willing to pay upfront, the annual plan gives you 12 credits for $150, which averages out to $12.50 per book. For the new hardcover edition, both prices are fraudulent.

What books are you looking forward to getting your hands on this month? Or will you skip this month’s selections? As always, let me know in the comments! One day the beautiful blue box arrived and while a montage of me hugging it played, Will said AND I QUOTE, “Okay, I’m just going to come out and say it…I don’t get it! AND WHAT IS THE BOOK OF THE MONTH?? Couldn’t you buy this book in the store? You already know what’s in that box anyway.” *record scratch* I was furious. Absolutely horrified. How could he even question BOTM?? But then I thought, “Well *I* really didn’t get it at one point in my life ” so maybe others are wondering what it is and if Book of the Month is worth it? So, since I’ve never formally talked about it here, I’m going to give my official Book of the Month review and talk about it and answer any questions.

Books To Cozy Up With This Winter (2022)

I used to be really into other book subscription boxes – you know the ones with all the little things related to fandom or book merchandise. And in many cases, while a couple of times I’ve gotten my hands on a book that I might not have otherwise picked up and enjoyed, the book itself was something I already had, or for various reasons I wasn’t interested in it at all.

And that’s always been a problem, honestly. I realized that when I was spending so much money, I really didn’t enjoy the surprise of not knowing which book it was because I could have spent the money on a book

I realized that this type of book subscription box wasn’t for me because 1) I wasn’t always happy with the surprise (I think it’s great if you don’t already own a bunch of new books) and it was overwhelmed by the little bookish stuff that came with it came – so much of it wasn’t something I was REALLY interested in.

So I canceled all my book subscriptions and went on a merry-go-round. Plus, I’ve been REALLY cutting back on my book spending.
