British Airways First Class 777 Review

British Airways First Class 777 Review – BEN SAYS: Although it’s a good flight by British Airways standards, the airline can’t compete with its first class competitors.

Although I have flown British Airways first class many times before, there are two things that make my flight from London to Boston different:

We booked this using British Airways Avios — 100,000 Avios per person, plus $341 in taxes, fees, and carrier surcharges.

Although British Airways is known for their surcharges, they vary depending on your origin, and these are some of the lowest transatlantic fuel prices I’ve seen for first class travel. of British Airways.

Although 100,000 Avios is a lot, in fact I transferred to Avios from Amex last year with a 40% bonus, so I actually paid 72,000 Amex points per person, which I didn’t think was wrong very bad.

Our layover at Heathrow was originally supposed to take more than four hours, but due to the delay it ended up being closer to two hours. There was still plenty of time, and I’m glad we didn’t plan a shorter stay.

Arriving and departing from Terminal 5, so the transfer process is easy. The security line was not bad and we were in the air again in 20 minutes, which is very fast by Heathrow standards.

We went to the British Airways Concorde lounge for less than an hour. I have already reviewed this bedroom, so I won’t do it again, except to point out two things that I really liked:

Anyway, boarding was scheduled to start at 6:55PM at gate B45, so we headed there at 6:40PM. This requires the train to take the “B” track.

I have “SSSS” on my login, so I’ll have to check again. This is how it works at Heathrow, where you are let through the check-in gate and then asked to sit down. Then they start climbing up and they search for your belongings. So every time I tried to be the first to get a picture, I couldn’t do it this time, because I was being searched.

I boarded through the second door on the left, where I was greeted by a customer service manager and another flight attendant led me into the first class cabin. It was my first time flying British Airways’ 777 first class and I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable I was in the cabin.

British Airways 777 First Class Lhr To Sea [review]

A total of 14 first class seats — four seats on each side near the windows and three double seats in the middle section. The house is spacious and I like to take up all the space between doors one and two, so it feels like privacy.

I arranged the two center seats in the second row. These are not first class seats, although they are comfortable for sitting with your travel companion and easy to talk to. This was especially true after we flew ANA first class a few months ago, where the center seats were designed so you couldn’t talk to each other.

If you are traveling alone you will want to choose one of the single seats, facing the windows. British Airways has blinds that can be lowered automatically at the push of a button, which is a nice touch. Although the seats aren’t cutting edge, British Airways does a good job with comfort and clarity.

In my seat there is an ottoman, which can be a roommate, if you want to eat with someone face to face. The personal television was folded out of the center section, saved for takeoff and landing (meaning you don’t watch anything during those parts of the flight).

I find the position of the exit to the seat very annoying, because you can’t access it while sitting. But it’s next to the ottoman, so you have to bend down to insert something. While I was taking pictures I also saw how bad British Airways aircraft cleaning is.

While I appreciated the privacy barriers between the seats, the picture below shows the extent to which these can be retracted. It says you can have privacy, but there is no way to move them back, so the space between the seats is completely open. I’m not sure why they haven’t.

The shiny tray table was folded away from the right side of the seat. It’s a lot when it’s long, although you can just squeeze it in half.

The seat controls are very easy to use, as they are on the right side of the seat. There is a knob that you can use to extend your seat or retract it, which I like (the light around it turns green and you’re good to go for takeoff and landing). You can also control lighting from here.

You can tell how old this 777-200 is by the entertainment controller, which is on the right side of the back of the seat. This is also where the USB ports are located.

Finally, on the outside of the seat there is a small room to hang a coat or something similar.

While these seats aren’t exactly reclining, I do remember that there are very few seats that wobble, so you won’t be sitting right next to someone all the way.

A couple of mattresses awaited my seat upon boarding, two pillows and a sun blanket. While I wouldn’t recommend this type of bed, it is much better than the flat-as-a-pancake pillow that British Airways put in front of every seat during boarding.

A few minutes after landing, the flight attendant who was looking after me came over to introduce himself. This flight was operated by one of British Airways’ mixed flight crews, their lower-cost airlines. There are many changes with these flight attendants, although they are enthusiastic and well-intentioned. That is the case here.

First I was asked if I wanted a drink. I ordered a glass of champagne (British Airways serves Laurent Perrier Grand Siecle, which I like).

British Airways has really improved their glasses, cutlery, and food, and I always noticed that. I love their new champagne flutes, and how they serve warm towels on small plates instead of handing them directly to you.

Later I was given pajamas. British Airways changed their pajamas recently. British Airways now has pajamas from British fashion brand Temperley London. I thought the pajamas were really nice, although I really like the old British Airways pajamas.

I was later sent a very nice package, with products from Elemis. Although Elemis is not my favorite brand out there, I thought it was a great kit.

It’s interesting that the soups seem to be only available on demand (or so it seems this flight). British Airways has the best new slippers — they’re durable and comfortable.

At 7:45PM boarding was announced, at which point the first officer came over the PA to add his welcome on board and inform us of our 6hr50min flight time to Boston. . He told me we would be at 36,000 feet, and on time.

A few minutes later the door closed (13 of the 14 first class seats were taken), at which point the customer service manager waved on the poster.

At 7:55PM we started our push back, at which time the safety video was shown. The British Airways safety video is pretty funny the first or second time you see it, but after that it’s a little… great.

As we climbed out I went to the British Airways entertainment options. This flight has an old British Airways entertainment system. Although the selection was good, I found the screen quality to be low. British Airways has updated the screens on some flights, though not on this one, I think.

British Airways offers Wi-Fi on most of their long-haul planes now, including this one. There are two quick options, with three packages each.

And for the “Stream” package (which is meant for fast web browsing and video streaming), the price is as follows:

I ended up buying the “River” package for the entire flight. Although not cheap, the speeds are good, and it’s good to have no data cap.

The seat belt indicator was turned off just five minutes after takeoff. A few minutes later the customer service manager came into the cabin to welcome every passenger on board. The service started after that. The menu reads as follows:

Just 20 minutes after take off my first drink and canapés were served. I love that airlines give you the first drink after the flight. British Airways has really designed their first class meal service, and I am very impressed.

I love the new glasses (as mentioned above), and love to present canapés. I had another glass of champagne, then
