That’s a beautiful tile, guys! But, I thought marble tile might be difficult to clean or easy to carve and stain. In fact, I went back and forth for a few weeks on whether or not I should use marble tile in my shower.

Well, I was wrong, it is actually very quick and easy to clean marble shower tile and get rid of that mold and mildew safely.
But first, let’s get to everything you need to know about how to clean marble shower grout and tile!
The Best Grout Color For Marble
Not at all. I’m happy to say, I’ve had a full marble tile shower in our master bathroom for 2 years now and it’s so easy to clean!
But, marble has a bad reputation for high maintenance. Below you can see what I use to clean my marble tile and my simple cleaning schedule.
It’s good to know what to avoid around marble tile, so you know what can be used to clean the tile and safely clean the shower glass door in a marble or stone shower.
You should avoid using most of those popular store-bought cleaners. They usually contain strong chemicals that can etch, stain, or dull your marble or natural stone tile.
How To Clean Shower Grout
Make sure the label says safe on marble or your type of stone. If the label doesn’t specifically mention stone or marble, I won’t use it.
Cleaners with a high pH (acidic) can etch marble and stone, dulling the shine and possibly pitting the stone.
And, vinegar is a popular natural cleaner but it is too acidic for marble and natural stone. Do not use vinegar on marble.
I use vinegar to clean marbled shower glass doors. But, I am very careful to keep the vinegar off the tile.
The Best Homemade Grout Cleaner For Tile Floors And Walls
Cleaning marble shower tile and grout doesn’t have to be difficult or scary if you know which cleaners are safe on marble.
About once a week, I squirt about a teaspoon of Dawn dish soap into a plastic container before I get in the shower.
You can use other dish soaps, just make sure they say they are “soft” or PH neutral and don’t contain extra ingredients like skin moisturizers, fragrances, etc.
Once I’m in the shower, I add water to the dish soap in the container and use an old soft-bristled toothbrush and soft cloth to scrub the tile and grout.
Pro Tips For Cleaning Bathroom Tile Grout
Be sure to wipe off soap and shampoo build-up on the marble tile to prevent mildew and mold growth.
Marble tile is porous, and somewhat soft (for stone). It can be scrubbed with a stiff scrub brush and cleaning pads.
I use a non-abrasive 3M Scrub Dots wash cloth with small plastic dots on one side as a way to remove shampoo and soap residue in the grout. They also make the Scrub Dots Sponge which you can check out here.
And, I try to dry the tiles every time I use the shower. This only helps prevent mildew growth and hard water stains.

Here’s a look at the mildew I created on my marble shower floor before this how-to video. Yuck! But, I wanted to show you all that this cleaner really works.
OK, now you know how to clean your marble tile weekly, but there is an even easier step to prevent or stop the growth of mold and mildew. And, this really couldn’t be easier.
Once every 3 to 5 weeks, I spray on Marblelife Mold and Mildew Stain Remover or Stonetec Mold and Mildew Remover.
How To Clean Marble Grout, Very Hard To Get White And How Do You Clean The Toilet Seal Thing?
You want to make sure all the grout is wet with this spray to kill mildew and mold on the marble shower tile and grout.
Then let it dry for 5 minutes before washing it off with water. This has a strong smell, so run a fan to get rid of those fumes.

How to Clean, Kill Mildew and Seal Marble Shower Tile – This Easy DIY Works on Marble and Stone Tile
The easiest way I’ve found to clean grout in a marble shower is actually quite simple. Once a week, I scrub the grout and tiles with Original Dawn dish soap mixed with warm water.
Be sure to use a marble-safe scrubber, such as a soft bristle toothbrush, non-scratch dobby scrubbing pad, or Scotch-Brite Scrub Dots pad.
How To Clean A Marble Shower
Then, once every 2 or 3 weeks, I spray the grout with Marble Safe Mold and Mildew Cleaner. That spray kills and stops all that pink mildew growth.
I’ve been using this simple two-step process to clean marble shower grout for over 5 years now. And, I’m happy to report that my marble tile and grout still look great!
There isn’t just 1 best cleaner for grout between marble tiles, there are a handful that work really well and are safe to use on natural stone like marble.
Be sure to follow the directions on whatever you choose to get the best results from cleaning marble tile grout.
How To Clean Bathroom Tiles Grout
Again, I found a very easy way to clean those pesky hard water stains off the glass in our shower.

But, be careful. You should not let vinegar touch your marble tile. And, mixing vinegar and baking soda together impairs its ability to clean anything.

Tile & Stone Cleaner
Sealing marble tile is very easy. Marble should be sealed once a year, unless it is in a high traffic area. I consider the shower to be a very high traffic area. what about you
So, I seal my shower tile every 6 months. You will know when it needs to be sealed. When it gets wet it darkens as it absorbs water.
Seal a clean dry shower by spraying Black Diamond Granite Sealer onto a clean rag, then wipe it across the tile in a circular motion.
Continue spraying the sealer and wiping until you have finished all the tiles. You don’t need to saturate the tile with the sealer, but it should be slightly damp over the entire tile.
