CAMDEN — Mystic Stamp Company, America’s largest postage stamp vendor, last year switched to an employee stock ownership plan, also known as an ESOP.
Owners Donald and Chacia Sandman sold their shares to the plan. Their roles with the company remain the same. Donald is president of Mystic Stamp and Chacea is director of human resources. They continue to manage the business.
“The only changes are in ownership. There are no changes with operations or our staff,” said Donald Sundman. “We have a great team, a very successful business and don’t want to change that. I’m very happy with the ESOP because it’s retirement for our employees.” Will help to save for.
He added, “We made this change to position Mystic for the future. This rewards our hard working colleagues and promises to keep Mystic a positive force in the stamp world and Central New York for years to come.

“The ESOP will be great for our colleagues, the greater Camden community and our customers,” said Chacea Sundman. “It fits our guiding principles.
“The ESOP is an added benefit as we keep our 401K retirement plan and our annual profit sharing bonuses.”
Mystic employs about 150 people at its headquarters on Mill Street. Camden native Lawrence Shaver founded Mystic in 1923 and sold the business to the Sandman family in 1974.
Mystic has grown to become one of the largest sellers of postage stamps in the United States and one of the largest in the world.
