Sign Into My Google Business Account – There are a number of reasons why you may not be able to access your business page on Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business); you haven’t set it up yet, you can’t remember your password, someone else has verified the page, or maybe you just don’t know how. Let’s get into how to sign in to your Google Business account.

If you are creating a Google Business Profile for the first time, go to Google Business. Select “Manage Now.”

Google Business Profile: A Complete Guide (2022)

If you’re creating a business without an existing Google Business Profile, you’ll be guided through the steps to complete setup.

It is very likely that someone else has already verified your listing. WHO? You may have the wrong account, someone else in your company may have claimed it, or it may be someone else entirely. Either way, click “Request Access”.

The owner of the linked Google account will receive an email that you will have access to the page. If you have multiple Google Accounts, check each one for this email. Ask others in your company to check it out as well. If you’re lucky, someone you know has access. From there, the transition is easy.

The bad: The owner is unresponsive. After a while, Google will tell you that there was no answer. This is followed by a process to contact the owner again. If there’s still no response, Google assumes it’s abandoned and can then give you ownership. This can take many weeks.

How To Verify Google My Business Account

There are a few reasons why you may not be able to access or edit your Google Business Profile:

You forgot your username or password: Go to Google Business and click “Log in”. Enter the associated email with the account, then click “Forgot password?” Google will walk you through the steps. Hopefully you set up a backup or remember some of the information.

You want to manage the profile with another account: It’s easy to change or add administrators and transfer ownership – if you have both accounts or know who does.

When properly optimized, it showcases your best features and makes it easy for consumers to discover, learn about and contact your business. However, in order to properly optimize your business profile, you must have access to it, and to access it, you must verify with Google that you are the rightful owner.

While it seems like it should be as simple as “create step one, step two assert and step three verify”, the process is neither that simple nor that linear – which you’ve already guessed if you’re reading this post. That’s because it requires three different Google accounts and two different Google platforms, all of which have very similar names. Talk about a brain bender.

How Do I Log Into My Google Business Account?

So in this post, I’ll first outline for you what’s what in Google, and then give you a clear roadmap to create a Google My Business account and use it to claim and verify your business profile on Google.

Whether you’re a local mainstay or just starting a business, your Google Business profile makes it easy for consumers to discover, learn about, and contact your business online. These are the core benefits of a Google My Business account, and if that’s not enough to convince you, consider the disadvantages of not having one.

You risk losing customers. Without a Google My Business account, you have no control over the information displayed on your business profile, and according to a BrightLocal study, 68% of consumers would stop using a local business after finding incorrect information online.

You risk a bad reputation. Without a Google My Business account, you cannot respond to your Google reviews, which are a mandatory part of your business profile. And since reviews are both a Google ranking factor and the biggest influence on consumer purchases, managing them is a must.

Can’t Import My Google My Business Account To New Bing Account

You lose to the competition. An empty or bare business profile is the equivalent of having an unkempt storefront. If you don’t take care of your business, how can consumers trust you to take care of them? They will be much more likely to click and interact with a business profile in the search results that has lots of attractive information and looks vibrant.

You lose SERP real estate. Google ranks business profiles according to their quality, and a business profile alone is not enough. However, a Google Business Profile managed through a Google Business account can be optimized to rank above the competition for relevant keyword searches.

Which list would you choose? The unclaimed one on the left or the one optimized by the Google My Business account on the right?

By now it should be clear that creating a Google My Business account and verifying ownership of your business is essential if you want to provide accurate information, respond to reviews, attract customers and rank higher in local search – even on the first page .

As previously mentioned, however, the process is not super simple. It involves two different Google platforms and three different Google accounts, all of which have similar names, some of which you probably already have. So to set you free, let’s first brush up on the terminology.

Google Account: This is the free account you create with Google so you can access Google Docs, Google Drive, Google Photos, Gmail, and more. Many call it their “Gmail account”, but Gmail is just one of the functions; you can actually use any email to create a Google account. In this post, I’ll use the term “standard Google Account” to refer to this account type, just to avoid confusion. Most business owners already have two default Google Accounts – one they use for their personal life and one they use for their business.

Business Profile: This is your free business listing on Google that appears on Google Maps, the local results from Google Search, and the right knowledge panel in Google Search.

How To Delete

Now that you have the right terminology down, let’s put the pieces together to form a complete picture of the process.

The way you do this is your Google My Business account, which you sign up for using a standard Google account.

Now, with the foundation laid, you’re armed and ready to claim and verify your business on Google. The steps outlined below are written in a linear fashion and in some cases you will need to jump down a step. But I would still encourage you to read them all carefully to avoid hitting roadblocks or creating duplicate accounts.

This is the default Google account we described in the terminology section above. If you already have one (make sure it’s not your personal Google account), skip down to step #2. If you don’t have a Google Account for your business, follow the steps below.

Connect Google Business Profile

Your Business Profile is the official term for your Google Business Listing. As mentioned above, Google Business Profiles are separate from Google My Business accounts. A business profile can exist on its own without a Google My Business account. The problem with this is that the business owner has no control over the information in that business profile until they claim it, and this is done through Google My Business. Bottom line: You need to make sure you have a business profile to claim after you set up your Google My Business account.

If you know you’ve already created a business profile, skip down to step #4. If you haven’t created one or are unsure, follow the steps below.

Note: Even if you haven’t created it, there’s a good chance your business profile already exists. This is because a business profile is simply a location on Google Maps that any person or computer can add. So to check and see if you need to create a business profile, follow these steps:
