I found an installer here for the VS2017 version, but is there one for the 2019 preview version?

SQL Server Reporting Services and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSRS, SSDT, SSAS, MSAS): Support for these project types is provided by two extensions in the Visual Studio Gallery: Microsoft Analysis Services Modeling Projects and Microsoft Reporting Services Projects. SSDT support is also included in the data storage and processing workload in Visual Studio 2019.

Update: The existing dtproj in Visual Studio 2019 has been opened successfully and so far the script components are keeping their code within the save range.

The VS 2019 Community Edition EULA has a special section that allows enterprise users to use it for SSDT workloads. See https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/license-terms/mlt031819/.

Make sure you select the Data Storage and Processing payload in the Visual Studio 2019 installer. It installs the latest version of SSDT on your Visual Studio 2019 installation:

It’s showing on the page you linked .. but it doesn’t seem to be released by MS yet..

Support for Visual Studio 2019 Preview is available through SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT). For more information, see the SQL Server Integration Services blog.

@TheRealVira We’ve updated the Project Migration and Upgrade Reference for Visual Studio 2019 page with a “temporary” comment and link text for the SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) entry in the Project Types table. We will update this information again once Visual Studio 2019 is out of preview. In the meantime, thanks again for pointing out the link issue!

Visual Studio 2019 will no longer be reviewed starting today. Will there be an updated SSDT package for this version?

Great job on Visual Studio 2019 and great launch event. It was great to see Scott Hanselman stuffing soda down his shirt…

I think many of us have the same question. Can we use Visual Studio 2019 with SSDT 2017 before SSDT 2019 is released?

I tried to install SSDT 2017 in VS 2019 and the installation failed. I hope the SSDT team fixes this soon.

Hmm. I tried again and got the error “The requested metafile operation is not supported (0x800707D3)”

I don’t think it’s clear. Even if you extract the VSIX files from the SSDT installer and try to install these extensions via

@TerryGLee Could you please reopen this ticket? Until this whole SSDT issue is resolved, it’s too early for Microsoft people to drink that champagne :).

How can we get SSDT to work in our beautiful 2019 Visual Studio? It would be better to uninstall VS 2017 and use VS 2019 with SSDT.

Announcing Redgate Data Tools In Visual Studio 2017

I have a few internal queries on the game and I hope to have the answers posted here soon. Thank you all for your continued conversation and questions.

Any update on SSDT for VS19, how can a company like Microsoft forget this, why does it pay its employees huge amounts of money.

With Visual Studio 2019, the functionality required to enable Analysis Services, Integration Services, and Reporting Services projects has been moved to the corresponding Visual Studio extensions. The main SSDT function for creating database projects has become indispensable for Visual Studio (you must select a data storage and processing workload during installation). No other standalone SSDT installation is required.

As of 7/4/2019, VS 2019 Community Edition’s Visual Studio Extensions (“Manage Extensions” menu) does not show “Integration Services” as an available item. I can’t create a new SSIS project (Integration Services Project) in VS 2019.

How To Verify The Release Installed For Visual Studio, Ssdt, And Cozyroc Ssis+

I have an answer to at least one of the questions asked on this topic:

With Visual Studio 2019, the delivery model for SSDT has changed. In short, you don’t need to install any additional tools other than selecting a data storage and processing workload from the Visual Studio Installer before creating a database project.

We apologize for any trouble this may cause; and please know that we are working to update our documentation to reflect these changes as soon as possible.

Even if you have this feature installed, as @jasonfetter pointed out, you cannot create new SSIS solutions in VS 2019. When you try to open an existing SSIS project or solution, you get a Migration Report error that shows:

Microsoft Sql Server 2019 Installation And Initial Setup

@TerryGLee Saving and processing data and selecting all modules 100 times doesn’t work. We need SSTD VS19 to open an existing ETL project. (.dtproj) should be supported in VS 19.

SSRS and SSAS extensions seem to have been added to the market, but still waiting for SSIS.

Got caught with this today! I can do SSRS and SSAS, but no SSIS… I would also recommend updating the docs because it convinced me I could do it.

Sql Server Integration Services (ssis) Basics

If it takes this long to release an extension, SSIS must be really low on the priority list. I can’t imagine there’s much of a difference between 2017 and 2019 when it comes to expansion. Get this, guys!

We’ve added the SSIS Marketplace link to the project migration and upgrade reference for Visual Studio 2019 page. I’m closing this issue because the SSDT/SSIS documentation update on this page is complete. Thanks everyone for your feedback!

Wait don’t close this yet. What about Analysis Services and Tableau projects? This is also part of SSDT.

The SSIS issue is still not resolved in the latest version of 2019. I added the extensions and still can’t create the SSIS project. Can I install an older version of visual studio 2017?

Dbforge Fusion For Sql Server

When I run this SSIS installer on Windows Server Core 1803 as follows, I get exit code 1603 and it always seems to fail to install the Microsoft.DataTools.IntegrationServices.vsix file with VSIXBootStrapper.exe. This step produces error code 0x80131500. Any help in decoding this error code would be appreciated.

Likewise, installing SSRS and SSAS add-ins or updating existing extensions from devenv.exe will not work. I was able to track it down like this:

I submitted a ticket for SSDT in November 2018 and finally got a message that Server Core is not supported. Given that the release model is no longer the same as SSDT-setup.exe, and that the other vsix extensions in VS2019 are installed perfectly fine as part of the VS2019 installation, why can’t I install or update these extensions from devenv.exe? ?

After installing the 400MB SSIS extension in Visual Studio 2019 and later, building the first SSIS project only took about an hour and a half, maybe longer. I finally went to bed and woke up with a newly created project. It was like Christmas morning.

I had the same experience. I waited more than 4 hours for Visual Studio hours to create the first project. Eventually I restarted and tried again and now I’m stuck in a process that never ends. I’ve dealt with some sad MS releases over the years, but this one tops them all.

So far I can’t open existing .dtproj files
